UAE labour law · end of the job
UAE final settlement calculator
Enter your dates, your salary, the leave you have taken and your notice period. We add up the gratuity, unused leave and notice allowance the law sets as a minimum, with the article each figure comes from and the date by which they are due.
Estimate, not legal advice. For a dispute about your final settlement, MOHRE handles complaints from private-sector workers.
Example
A full-time worker who started on 1 January 2023 and whose contract ends on 31 December 2025, with a basic salary of AED 6,000 a month and a total wage of AED 9,000 a month, who took 60 days of leave and whose employer told them to stop working 10 days before the end of a 30-day notice period.
Your final settlement
Total the law sets as a minimum: AED 21,631.51. It is due by 14 January 2026, within 14 days of the end of the contract (Article 53).
The total does not include wages still owed to you, such as pay for your last days of work. Your payslip shows them, and they are due by the same date (Article 53).
End-of-service gratuity
Service counted: 1,096 days. At least AED 12,611.51: 21 days of basic wage for each of the first five years and 30 days for each later year, with the part of the last year in proportion (Article 51(2) and (3)).
The employer may deduct from the gratuity only amounts due by law or by a court ruling, such as loans or overpayments, under the conditions of Cabinet Resolution No. 1 of 2022, Article 29 (Article 51(7)). We do not deduct anything.
Unused annual leave
Leave the law sets as a minimum for your service: 90.1 days. Days taken: 60. Days unused: 30.1, paid on the basic salary at AED 200 a day: at least AED 6,020 (Article 29(9); Cabinet Resolution No. 1 of 2022, Article 19(2)).
Notice period
Notice days worked: 20 of 30. Because the employer cut the notice short, it owes you a notice allowance equal to your last wage for the days still to go (10): AED 3,000 (Article 43(3) and (4)).
Also when the job ends
If you ask, the employer gives you a free certificate of experience with your dates, job, last wage and the reason the contract ended (Article 13(11)).
The employer pays your return to the place you were recruited from, or to another place you agreed, unless you have joined another employer or the end of the contract is attributed to you (Article 13(12)). The law does not state an amount.
How this calculator works
- The gratuity follows the same rules as our UAE gratuity calculator: 21 days of basic wage for each of the first five years and 30 days for each later year, in proportion for part of a year, up to two years’ wage (Article 51). A day is the monthly figure divided by 30 (Article 67).
- Unused leave follows the same count as our UAE annual leave calculator, or the balance you enter, paid on the basic salary (Article 29(9)). The notice allowance is the last full wage for the notice days not worked (Article 43(3) and (4)).
- Every figure is a minimum. We add only what the employer owes you, show apart what you may owe, and deduct nothing.
What this page does not do
- It does not read your contract or your employer’s by-laws, which may give more than the law.
- It does not cover part-time work; pay by the week, day or piece; the alternative end-of-service savings scheme (Cabinet Resolution No. 96 of 2023); an agreed waiver or shortening of the notice (Article 43(2)); dismissal without notice (Article 44); leaving without notice (Article 45); or compensation for unlawful dismissal (Article 47).
- It is an estimate, not legal advice. For a dispute about your final settlement, MOHRE handles complaints from private-sector workers.
